I was just looking at this website: http://capwiz.com/ala/issues/alert/?alertid=10984226. It gives information on library and education legislation. The Farm, Nutrition, and Bioenergy Act of 2007 (H.R. 2419), Section 6302 would include “libraries in the rural telecommunications program: ‘Telemedicine, Library Connectivity, and Distance Learning Services in Rural Areas.’” This is a really great idea because it would support more funding to libraries in rural areas. Internet services would then be available to children in rural areas that might otherwise be a little behind due to lack of resources. Ofcourse this would also help adults to, but with the “No Child Left Behind” policy, legislation aimed at education seems to be a little easier to pass. With that being said, I think people like to jump on the bandwagon of a good idea before realizing that we can not really give money to all the good causes without raising taxes or cutting the funding going to something else. How does one determine what is of more importance than something else? We are all tax payers and it seems to me that what money should be spent on is subjective, but I guess that is why we have lobbyists and congressmen and senators always have worry lines on their faces.
